April 20 (Renewables Now) - Wind turbine manufacturer GE Renewable Energy said today that it has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Spanish renewables developer Forestalia to support a new 21-MW wind farm project in Spain and lower the carbon footprint of its European operations.

The 12-year fixed price PPA will enable GE Renewable Energy to source the equivalent of over 60% of its power consumption across European facilities, as part of its plan to run carbon neutral operations by 2030. In turn, Forestalia will get to install its wind farm in a place called El Coto, in Spain’s Zaragoza province.

The Spanish developer, which is also a customer of GE Renewable Energy, expects to start operating the El Coto wind farm in June 2023, the turbine maker said.

The latest is the sixth green PPA that GE Renewable Energy signed to source power from new renewables for its own operations, according to the company.
