On October 20th, the time had come: Two graduates of the Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences accepted the 2020 and 2021 sponsorship awards.The award is presented jointly by the VDWF and the Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences.Framed by laudator Stephan Hoffmann (left) and Prof. Dr.Thomas Seul: The award winners Julian Gundelwein (2nd from left) and Samuel Werner hold the award for their student achievements in their hands.(Image: Thomas Schmitt)The framework for the award ceremony was the annual reception of the Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences, the town of Schmalkalden and the Society of Friends and Sponsors of the Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences.The sponsorship awards for 2020 and 2021 were awarded by a selection committee of the university and the Association of German Tool and Mold Makers (VDWF).VDWF member and Formconsult Managing Director Stephan Hoffmann took over the award laudations and presented the awards to the two young engineers Samuel Werner and Julian Gundelwein in front of around 150 guests in the lecture hall building of the university."It is always a real pleasure for the Association of German Tool and Mold Makers and the training committee at Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences to see how research and science - in and for the region - are being promoted by many young people from a wide variety of subject areas in the interests of the industry ", says Prof. Dr.Thomas Seul, Vice President for Transfer at Schmalkalden University and President of the VDWF.A roadmap towards resource-saving and fair management in tool and mold making: This is the objective of the VDWF working group "Sustainability".This ninth specialist group of the Association of German Tool and Mold Makers began in mid-February 2021 with a kick-off in online format."We want to work out specific measures for companies in tool and mold making in order to show them a sustainable path," explains Henning Köllner, Managing Director of Gezea and head of the working group.The VDWF follows these measuresIn front of around 150 invited guests in a festive atmosphere, Dr.Wolfgang Ramsteck, Chancellor of Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences, and Thomas Kaminski, Mayor of Schmalkalden, hosted the event.After the keynote speech held by Prof. Dr.Gundolf Baier, President of the Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences, followed the award ceremony.First, Samuel Werner was honored with the 2020 sponsorship award for his master's thesis "Development of a safety clamp for infusion pumps".He enrolled in the 2018 summer semester and completed his studies at Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences in September 2019 with an overall grade of 1.2.His master's thesis was written in collaboration with B.
