Environmental-friendly modified silicone oil breaks through the bottleneck and leads the green upgrade of textile auxiliaries.
With the global textile industry undergoing a profound transformation towards greening and functionality, silicone oil, as the core softening agent, is experiencing a new round of technological iteration. Recently, a product that modifies end-epoxy polyether silicone oil through quaternization has been successfully industrialized, effectively addressing the problems of poor hydrophilicity, easy yellowing at high temperatures, and weak antibacterial properties of traditional silicone oil, and has become a new benchmark for industry upgrading.
1.The traditional drawbacks have become prominent, and the industry is calling for innovation.
Although traditional amino silicone oil can give fabrics a soft feel, it has obvious shortcomings: insufficient hydrophilicity leads to poor water absorption of the fabric, yellowing and deterioration of appearance due to high-temperature baking at high temperatures, rapid decline in feel and function after multiple washes, and some products contain restricted substances, making it difficult to meet international environmental protection certification requirements such as OEKO-TEX. Downstream enterprises are facing triple pressures of "quality, environmental protection, and cost", and urgently need high-performance and low-pollution new additives to replace the old ones.
2. Breakthrough in modification technology, performance has significantly improved
This modification technology achieved a molecular structure reconfiguration, introducing quaternary ammonium groups into the terminal epoxy polyether silicone oil chain segments, forming a more stable chemical bonding structure. Tests showed that the modified additive remained uniformly transparent after being left to stand in a 50°C water bath for 72 hours, while the traditional product began to separate after 48 hours; the fabric's water absorption increased by 40%, and the softness retention rate after 50 washes exceeded 90%; the antibacterial effect against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus reached 99%, far exceeding the 60% water retention rate of traditional additives. At the same time, the product passed the skin irritation test and had a formaldehyde content lower than the industry standard, significantly enhancing its safety.
3. Green compliance takes precedence, aligning with industry trends
This modified silicone oil is produced using a solvent-free synthesis process and does not contain harmful substances such as APEO and heavy metals. The VOC emissions have been significantly reduced, meeting global stringent environmental regulations such as REACH and ZDHC MRSL v3.1. Under the "dual carbon" target, green additives have transformed from "dual carbon" to "entry threshold". The promotion of this product helps textile enterprises achieve clean production and reduce environmental compliance risks.
4. Expansion of application scenarios and empowerment of high-end manufacturing
Currently, this product has been successfully applied in fields such as infant clothing, high-end home textiles, and antibacterial functional fabrics. After being applied by a certain home textile enterprise, the product customer complaint rate decreased by 65%, and the proportion of high-end orders increased by 30%. In the future, with continuous technological optimization, modified silicone oil will further expand to industrial textiles and re-manufactured fiber finishing scenarios, promoting the development of textile auxiliaries towards higher performance, lower energy consumption, and recyclability.
